Prevent legionella outbreaks with high quality filters

4 Legionella water filters

What is Legionella ?

Legionella are bacteria occuring in soil and aquatic environments. It can infect your body through inhalation of contaminated water droplets and leads to Legionnaires’ Disease (potentially-fatal bacterial lung infection). Legionella can spread in human-made water systems like pools, cooling towers, air conditionning, showers, faucets, fountains, hot water tanks. At low temperatures (under 68°F) the bacteria can survive but not proliferate, over 140°F the bacteria dies.

Legionella outbreak !

According to the CDC (Center of Disease Control), each year 6,000 people are hospitalized in the U.S with Legionnaires’ disease.

1- Call professionals to perform a Water Risk Assessment and water analysis (Suppose that all potential sources of contamination are contaminated and treat them accordingly. This includes hot and cold water)

2- If Legionella positivity above acceptable levels is determined by environmental culturing, installation of Point-of-Use filters are the most immediate, effective response.

3- Prevent residents, patients, employees, and visitors from inhaling or drinking any water from you facility’s water systems until the source of the legionella bacteria has been identified.

4- Follow your Water management plan or if you have not, follow Developing a Legionella Risk Management Water Program .
